Golf Course Information
Open to the public, the Les Cheneaux Golf Club began operation in May 1898 and is the oldest continuously played links course in Michigan. Early members of the Les Cheneaux Club (established 1888) developed and chartered the course.
A place where sand, water, forest and rock are natural hazards, the Les Cheneaux Golf Club is traditional in its essential features. Play is to and from the water, and the land dictates the design of the holes rather than having a course imposed on it.
Though changes have been made since 1898 (lengthening of some holes for instance), the character of the links remains. Many of the hazards are overgrown piles of fieldstone cleared from the original fairways and the perpetual natural hazards of forest and rock are still challenging.
The course includes nine holes, many with alternate tees for those wishing to play a back nine.
A clubhouse is open 8am-8pm daily during the summer and sells a modest amount of golfing gear, including balls and tees.
