Public Notice - Ferry Road

PUBLIC NOTICE
2024 PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

The Township of Grosse Ile will be undertaking the paving of Ferry Road and various other locations starting on April 21, 2024 with an anticipated completion date by September 28, 2024. The project consists of asphalt roto-milling and the placement of asphalt pavement. The following are anticipated questions and corresponding answers:

When will the work start?
Weather permitting; the Contractor will begin work approximately April 21, 2024.  The Contractor (ASI) will start with asphalt roto-milling.  After the roto-milling work is done the existing road will be paved. After road paving is completed, the Contractor will commence with the restoration of driveways and lawns.

Will the street be open during construction?
One-way traffic will be maintained during the course of this project except on paving days which requires total closure for the duration of paving. Signage will be provided to direct traffic accordingly.  It is expected to take 2-3 days for paving.  During paving, parts of each road will be completely closed for periods of time to allow for paving, rolling, and the asphalt to cool enough for traffic.  Efforts will be made so residents have access to their homes.

Will I lose mail or garbage service?
Mail and garbage service should continue as normal.  Mail boxes which may need to be relocated during construction will be reinstalled before the end of the project.

Where will I park? No parking will be allowed on the road at locations where paving will occur. Please park in accessible driveways only.

What about police, fire and rescue access to my home?
The Police and Fire Departments are both aware the project’s impact on traffic.  The Contractor will make every effort to maintain emergency access to your home.

What will happen to my lawn sprinkler/other utilities?
The Contractor will protect utility crossings and sprinkler systems and will repair those impacted during construction.  Your help in marking these utilities/sprinkler systems would be greatly appreciated.

Who do I call if I have a question or if problems arise during construction?
We encourage you to call our engineering consultant, C. E. Raines Co., directly with all construction related questions or problems at (734) 285-7510.  Please ask the operator to direct you to Kenny Marx of the Construction Department and indicate that you are calling regarding the 2024 Asphalt Pavement Improvement Project in the Township of Grosse Ile. You may also speak directly to the onsite inspector who will be glad to discuss your concerns and answer any questions you may have.
