What's Happening in 2016


There are big things happening in Michigan in 2016, including the 10 year anniversary of the Pure Michigan campaign. To celebrate, Travel Michigan has compiled a list of things new and improved across the state – from new businesses, attractions and events to special exhibits and expansions. If you think you have seen it all, think again. There is no better time to discover a new, favorite escape in Pure Michigan.

Golf Events
* The inaugural LPGA Volvik Championship is set to take place at Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor (May 26-29) with a full field of 144 players and a $1.3 million purse.

* The United States Golf Association (USGA) returns to Michigan in 2016 as Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills hosts the 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship (Aug. 15-21).

* Tom Doak and his Renaissance Golf Design team have designed and created a reversible course for Forest Dunes Golf Club – two distinct layouts using the same greens but playing clockwise one way and counter clockwise the other way. β€œThe Loop,” will alternate the routing on a daily basis.
